CARE Pakistan is a Pakistani NGO whose objective is to provide social services to the marginalized community in Pakistan. The organisation provides microfinance facilities, trainings, and linkages to all kinds of lawful economic activities. The founder of the NGO is Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaja, who is a peace and conflict studies researcher.

He has extensive experience in Islamic finance. He is a former vice chairman of the AWT Board of Directors and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the ACBL. He has also served on the Board of Governors of the Shaukat Khan Memorial Trust, the Kidney Center, and the Patients’ Aid Foundation. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Indus Valley School of Arts and Architecture.
He is a renowned Shariah scholar. Mufti Muhammad Zahid is Chairman of the Shariah Supervisory Committee of the Bank of Khyber. He holds a PhD in Islamic Fiqh and a Takhassus (specialization in Islamic Fiqh and Fatawa) from Jamia Dar ul Uloom, Karachi.
Dr. Shimail is co-founding director of a HRD organisation
A co-founder of an HRD organisation in Islamabad, Dr. Shimail has extensive experience in the private sector and has served on a number of boards, including the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), the Federal Board of Investment, and the National Center for Dispute Resolution (NCR). His interests include the development of the healthcare services sector.
She is co-founder of Women Without Borders Pakistan, a member of the advisory board of the Peace & Development Network, a member of the National Defence University, and an external examiner of the National Defense University’s social sciences faculty. She has also contributed to a number of academic journals and presented a number of lectures and seminars related to human rights and peace.
Dr. Mahmood’s experience in the human rights field spans 18 years. He was a director at Save the Children International and served on the board of the Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child. He was also involved in advocacy work and research, and was invited to address the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Human Rights. He holds a Master’s in Social Anthropology.
In 2007, Dr. Kazi was inducted as a National Professional Officer at the International Islamic University, Islamabad. His work has included technical documentation, research, and community-based initiatives. In addition, he has been involved in media, having hosted various programs for the BBC, the Daily Times, and Radio Pakistan. He has also served as a post-doctoral scholar at several universities. He is currently working on the development of a youth-oriented international television channel.
Dr. Khan is a member of the Board of Studies/Selection Boards for Mass Communication
Dr. Khan has over 32 years of experience in mass communication. He has been a part of numerous conferences and workshops around the country. His research interests include Strategic Communication and Social Media Effects. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Studies/Selection Boards for Mass Communication at several universities in Pakistan.
Dr. Khan has been a member of several boards and has worked with many nonprofit organizations and governments. He is the founder of an HRD organization, a leading provider of work skills enhancement solutions for the corporate sector. He has also served on the Executive Committee for the National Science and Technology Park and as the Chairman of its Board of Directors, he has led the bid to host the World Conference of the International Association of Science Parks.
Dr. Khan has extensive experience in social media. He was a Visiting Fellow at the Henry L. Stimson Centre in the summer of 2000. He was also a Research Associate with the International Committee of Red Cross and the Institute of Political and International Studies in Tehran. His expertise in the field of security issues has led him to publish over 60 research articles and two books.
Dr. Khan has worked for several government organizations in Pakistan and abroad. He has worked in various fields, including telecommunication, information technology, media infrastructure, and health care. He excels at addressing critical issues in society and uses cutting-edge communication technologies and systems integration to meet these needs. He has a passion for space education and is involved in many community service projects, including the Zubaida Khaliq Memorial Free Hospital and the Begum Mehmooda Welfare Trust.
Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaja is a peace and conflict studies researcher
Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaj, a professor and researcher at the National Defence University, is part of the founding team of the Peace and Conflict Studies program in Pakistan. She has a PhD in South Asian Studies and a Master’s degree in Political Science. She has published numerous research articles and presented at international conferences. Her research interests include conflict resolution and peacebuilding.
She is the co-author of two books on conflict reporting. One on the cultural influences of India on Pakistani females, while the other focuses on mass media. Her research has been published in national and international journals.
In addition to her research on conflict and security, Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaj’s work has been awarded at various film festivals. Her short documentary, ‘December 25’, won a jury award at the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival. It also received acclaim at IDFA, the International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam. Khawaja has also been a trustee of the Agahi NGO since 2004. She also serves as a board member for Involve, a public participation think tank, and is co-lead of the UK chapter of Academics Stand Against Poverty.
Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaja has worked on conflict resolution issues for over ten years and has been involved in many projects. She is the founder of the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Programme, the Workers Employers Bilateral Council of Pakistan, and the National Center for Dispute Resolution. She has been appointed to a number of professional boards and has delivered numerous professional trainings. She is a member of the American Society for International Law and the Swiss Arbitration Association.
Dr. Puruesh Chaudhary is a futures researcher
A professional in strategic communication, futures and development, Puruesh Chaudhary is an Institute of Strategic Studies Distinguished Fellow. His work includes foresight research and has led him to work with multinationals, news organizations, and multilateral donors. In addition, he has presented his work at numerous international and domestic forums.
Futures are an evolving discipline that requires the integration of a wide variety of perspectives. Today, futures research is being developed at the provincial and federal levels. Futures are a powerful tool for understanding future trends and addressing challenges.
The AGAHI project aims to engage stakeholders in developing strategies to prepare for uncertain futures. It has developed a foresight framework for decision-making, including strategic narratives and shared understanding. The research will identify opportunities and threats for Pakistan and its people.
In collaboration with the IPS, AGAHI is strengthening its links with industry to promote futures research. This partnership will create a hybrid pool of knowledge resources for policymakers and industry representatives to collaborate on. In addition to this, AGAHI is also working with Eikon7, the Interactive Group of Companies, and leading academic institutions to create a foresight lab. Together, they will develop tools that will help decision makers make better choices based on data and trends.
Dr. Nazir Hussain is an associate professor
Dr. Nazir Hussain is an associate professor at Agahi NGO Islamabad, where he teaches global health, sustainability and development. He also serves as the Secretary General of the Corporate Advisory Council, a university-based organization that promotes industry-academia collaboration. He is the Co-Chair of ICT on the Corporate Advisory Council of the National University of Science and Technology, and is a member of the Syndicate at Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology.
Dr. Nazir Hussain has a background in mass communications and has a doctorate from the International Islamic University in Islamabad. He has held several fellowships and has published several research papers in national and international journals. In addition, he has served as a member of several academic committees, including the National Curriculum Revision Committee for Mass Communication.
Professor Nazir Hussain is Director of the School of Politics and International Relations at Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad. He has also served as a Visiting Faculty at several universities. He holds a PhD in political science and has also served as a Senior Research Fellow at the French Institute of International Relations in Paris. In addition, he has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Conflict Resolution from Uppsala University.
Dr. Nazir Hussain has served on the board of the Agahi NGO in Islamabad for nearly 15 years. He is a member of various international forums and organizations and represents civil society on various international networks. In addition, he has published several articles and books and has participated in countless international seminars.
