The 120-bed facility focuses on the rehabilitation of injured soldiers who are unable to regain their normal life. Recently, Sepoy Raees Khan underwent amputee rehabilitation. The AFIRM hospital was, founded by Rehabilitation Medicine consultants who were surgeons and veterans of the Pakistan Air Force. They started the hospital as an outpatient department in 2001 and later expanded to a 100-bed tertiary care rehabilitation facility. They employ a multidisciplinary team approach to provide comprehensive rehabilitation services for the injured.

AFIRM provides comprehensive multidisciplinary rehabilitation for amputees in Pakistan. Their goal is to reintegrate them into society as contributing members. They offer state-of-the-art prosthetics and vocational counseling. They also help patients develop financial independence. Amputees can participate in sports activities such as football, basketball, track events, and wall climbing.

Amputees treated at Afirm are, encouraged to pursue a career in their chosen field. As the war on terror has caused many victims to lose limbs, Pakistani physiatrists are doing their best to make a difference in their lives.

AFIRM also treats soldiers who are, war-wounded. Their patients often have traumatic brain injuries, polytrauma, and major joint stiffness. Throughout the last few years, AFIRM has treated nearly 100 soldiers with limb amputations.

Afirm Hospital Rawalpindi is the only hospital in the country to offer treatment to amputees, and the military has agreed to build a new block in the near future to increase their capacity. The facility has a staff of approximately 100 people, including five specialists and 13 general nurses. It also has two speech therapists and two psychologists.

Despite the challenges facing amputees, the Afirm Hospital Rawalpindi is, committed to providing the best care to the people affected by traumatic lower limb amputation. Its goal is to improve the quality of life for these individuals. This study aims to identify the causes of amputations, improve rehabilitation planning, and help reintegrate amputees into their communities.

The AFIRM is a rehabilitation hospital in Pakistan that manufactures prosthetic limbs. Its artificial limbs are cheaper than imported ones, with each artificial limb costing only Rs10,000 ($42). The hospital is also developing a vocational training program to train soldiers in hosiery, computer skills, and cell phone repair. The hospital has fitted over 1,000 artificial limbs, and its outpatient department sees more than 70,000 patients a year.

The AFIRM hospital began operating in Puna, India in the early 1900s, and was later relocated to Sialkot, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. In the early days, ALC served as a rehabilitation centre for injured soldiers. A large percentage of soldiers that were, killed in the 1965 war were from the northern area of Pakistan, and the ALC served as a major resource for the soldiers in need of prosthetics.
