The election campaign is now in full swing and we have our candidate for president in Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. In this article we will look at the candidate, his political party, and the election. We will also look at his electoral strategy and the way he will run the country.
Candidate for president
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has announced that he will run for President of Pakistan in the next general election. He said that he wants to build a society based on peace, tolerance, and equality, and that a nation’s wealth should be shared equally. In an address to his maiden public meeting, he criticized political opponents and narrated his development work in Sindh.
Bilawal Bhutto is the son of former Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and ex-prime minister Benazir Bhutto. His mother was assassinated in 2007 and he took over as the chairman of the PPP three days after her death. While he kept a low profile after his mother’s death, he has become more active as chairman of the PPP in recent years. He is 29 years old and is running for office for the first time.
In 2013, the PPP came second place in the national elections. Although the party is considered to be weaker than its rivals, the PPP has a better chance of coming in third place, according to recent polls. However, there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the election results.
The son of Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has been studying in Britain. His mother, Benazir Bhutto, had always envisaged her son to be the political heir. He spent his childhood outside Pakistan and moved to the exile in 1999. However, he has been back to Pakistan since 2010.
PPP has already launched an election manifesto for the next election. The manifesto is titled Bibi ka Waada Nibhaana Hai Pakistan Bachana Hai. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari says that his party will focus on its poverty eradication programme. The party is expected to form a coalition government after the election.
After a meeting with the Kashmir Council in Washington, Bhutto Zardari announced that he would stand by the people of Kashmir and raise his voice against the brutality by the Indian military. He also declared that he would not tolerate a military occupation in Pakistan.
It is expected that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will become the foreign minister of Pakistan, assuming he is elected. He is the son of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and former president Asif Ali Zardari. He is also the maternal grandson of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
Political party
The Pakistan People’s Party is the third largest party in the National Assembly. It is a centre-left social-democratic party. It is led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who is the son of Benazir Bhutto.
Bilawal is a bold and progressive politician with strong pro-people views. However, he is battling internal conflict. He is torn between following his mother and grandfather’s political legacy. He is also in the shadow of his father’s political legacy. As a result, it may take time for him to prove himself as a leader of his own party.
Bhutto, who was killed in 2007, gave Zardari the reins of the PPP. He made his son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari nominally chairman of the party. The two had three children together: Bilawal, Bakhtwar, and Asifa.
The PPP is a unique oppositional force in Pakistan. Because of its dominance in Sindh, it is required to strike a balance between protecting the government in Karachi and extending its reach as an opposition party. However, the party has consistently cautioned its allies not to dictate to it, even as a part of the federal government.
During his time as president, Zardari faced a number of domestic challenges. In 2010, Pakistan was hit by unprecedented floods, leaving 14 million people homeless and vulnerable to disease. As a result of this, the government’s response was criticized. Meanwhile, the government also faced controversy after the extrajudicial killing of the blasphemy law, which had been implemented decades ago by Zia-ul-Haq.
The PPP’s election manifesto for 2018 was released on 30 June. The manifesto was titled: “Bibi ka Waada Nibhaana Pakistan Bachana Hai” (Bibi’s Poverty Eradicates the Country). In this election, the PPP is focusing on its poverty eradication program.
Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is the son of Benazir Bhutto and the head of Pakistan’s Pakistan Peoples Party. As his father’s successor, he is expected to play a major role in repairing ties with the West. The Oxford-educated Zardari is the son of the late Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated in 2007 during an election campaign rally. The killer has never been identified. A UN inquiry into the murder concluded that Pakistan’s security failed to protect Benazir Bhutto.
Zardari’s term has been marked by increased U.S. involvement in Pakistan, including the expanded use of drones in the country. In 2011, the US killed Osama bin Laden near Pakistan’s premier military academy. But this is not the only change that Zardari’s term has brought.
On 27 December 2007, Benazir Bhutto was assassinated. Parliamentary elections were due in January 2008, but were postponed until 18 February. The PPP gained a significant victory, garnering 121 of the 227 seats in Parliament. Its rival party, Pakistan Muslim League, was second with 91 seats across the country.
Elections
An angry mob erupted during the electoral campaign of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Protesters chanted slogans and pelted stones at his convoy. A media report claims that he received no injuries. He has been campaigning in the NA-213 constituency.
He said that his PPP party has been successful in improving health facilities for the people of Sindh. He also said that the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) has been established, which provides free treatment for heart patients. Moreover, the PPP has appointed Senator Yousuf Baloch as the in-charge of Bilawal’s Central Election Office in NA-246. He has also named Abdul Karim Jatt and Qasim Baloch as members of the campaign committee.
The PPP hasn’t decided who will be the prime minister. However, party leaders have said that the party chairman Asif Zardari is the “best choice” for the position. But if Bhutto Zardari is elected prime minister, he may have to compromise with the PML-N. The party has also hinted that it is open to joining coalition governments. But Bhutto Zardari has not made it clear whether he would prefer a government led by the PML-N or Khan’s PTI.
The PPP is a major left-leaning political party in Pakistan. It is led by the scion of the storied Bhutto family, Bilawal Bhutto. He is trying to regain the popularity of his late mother, Benazir Bhutto. Her death in 2007 left her party fractured and weakened. Moreover, corruption is rampant in the party.
Bilawal Bhutto is a man of high expectations and is trying to live up to the legacy of his late mother. He is a good speaker of Sindhi and Urdu and is able to address rallies. The Bhutto family has a long and storied legacy in Pakistan and many people in the country expect him to continue that tradition.
A few days ago, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, a former prime minister, called for a democratic Pakistan. He campaigned for prosperity and peace in the country. The polls show that the PPP is likely to come in third place. However, the PPP was almost eliminated in the 2013 elections but managed to hold on to second place. The PPP was founded by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who was executed under martial law in 1979.
The PPP once ruled the country. However, its popularity has dwindled to a fraction of its previous level. Although it maintains strong support in Sindh, it appears to have lost some ground nationally to the PTI. A recent Gallup poll in March placed the PPP on 17 percent, trailing the PTI by 24 percent and the PML-N on 36 percent. However, this does not necessarily mean that the PPP has no chance of forming an alliance.
As the election draws near, the PPP must find a balance between its national and provincial interests. It must find a way to balance its position between governing in Sindh and being the federal opposition against the PTI. The PPP’s strategy is based on pragmatic principles.
