The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) is a regulatory body for the medical profession in Pakistan. Established in 1962 by an act of Parliament, it oversees postgraduate medical education and professional development. It publishes an open access, peer-reviewed biomedical journal.

CPSP is a postgraduate medical institution in Pakistan

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) is a premier postgraduate medical training institution in Pakistan. Founded in 1962, the CPSP is committed to ensuring excellence in postgraduate medical education. With thirteen regional centres in Pakistan and six overseas locations, it provides a world-class medical education. Its mission is to train exemplary physicians, improve clinical practices, and promote academic research.

The CPSP offers programmes that are internationally recognized. Its primary examinations are based on a multiple-choice (MCQ) format. The CPSP also replaces the viva with an objective structured examination, or OSPE. This increases objectivity of assessment, which results in higher pass rates. Although brain drain from Pakistan was a pressing concern, the CPSP’s recruitment drives for specialists in the Middle East helped increase Pakistan’s medical workforce.

The CPSP has made significant efforts to improve the quality of training. The institute has instituted a competency-based curriculum and defines various competencies for its trainees. It also recommends structuring competency for each level of training. Its essential goal is to create a safe practitioner. The institution has made significant investments in Information Technology (IT) and has developed its own electronic monitoring system, the CPSP E-logbook. It also organizes joint meetings with other medical institutions to share knowledge.

The Journal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) is an official journal of the institution. It is published quarterly and is published under the auspices of the Department of Medical Education of the CPSP. Its first Chief Editor was Professor Fazal Elahi, who was also the Director of Medical Education of the CPSP. Other chief editors were Dr. Shahida Zaidi and Dr. Shabih H. Zaidi. The first issue was published in October-December 1991. Its Founders aimed to promote medical writing skills among postgraduate students and doctors.

It publishes an open access, peer reviewed monthly biomedical journal

The current paradigm for biomedical publishing is at a crossroads. While the traditional print peer reviewed journal has served the scientific community well, spiraling costs and the acceptance of the internet as a legitimate publication medium have forced publishers to rethink their business model. These factors have forced many journals to consider new business models based on open access, free of charge content.

The Journal is committed to publishing original scientific and technical research papers, aimed at attracting international attention. Articles may include reviews, original studies, and clinical studies. Authorship is diverse and includes individuals from all over the world. All research professionals are encouraged to submit articles to the journal.

CPSP publishes an open access biomedical journal. The journal has a global reach and aims to serve the biology community. It is an interdisciplinary journal that publishes original research on molecular and cellular life sciences. All submissions are reviewed and published by a panel of editors. The journal also accepts reviews and education articles.

It has a viva

The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) has a viva exam today and will be holding it in Lahore and Karachi. The viva is an important part of a successful application process to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan. Candidates who have passed the viva will be eligible to apply for a fellowship.

As a Postgraduate Training Institute, CPSP has been a pioneer in developing residency programmes and is a Regional WHO Collaborating Centre. CPSP recently introduced a residency program to formalize training for Fellowship in several disciplines. The faculty of psychiatry at the college took the lead in developing the first model of STP. CPSP has since published a detailed STP booklet.

Students take ten to fifteen years of examinations. The worst part of this process is the postgraduate stage, which is characterized by a long list of exams. Passing the membership and fellowship examinations is an extremely difficult task. The failure rate of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan is consistently over 60 percent. This high percentage of failure in the final exam shows that the examination process is far from perfect. Besides, the viva is just one component of a long process. The outcome is dependent on other factors, which are often neglected in the discussion of the process.

To qualify for a fellowship, a doctor must pass the FCPS Part 1 exam, a comprehensive multiple-choice examination in their chosen specialty. They must also complete the Intermediate Module Exam, which is divided into practical and conceptual components. Only after passing the Intermediate Module Exam can the viva exam be conducted.

It has an electronic logbook

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) has adopted the use of an electronic logbook in its postgraduate training program. This system is intended to improve the communication and collaboration between faculty members and fellow trainees. It also helps maintain an electronic record of the trainee’s work.

The CPSP is a validating body for specialty physicians. Its main objective is to ensure high standards in the training and practice of physicians. The college maintains a register of registered clinical practitioners and is actively involved in the accreditation process of postgraduate training. It also sets the standards for postgraduate training and maintains a logbook for all practitioners.

The e-logbook is a web application that doctors can use to maintain log data wherever they are. It was developed in close collaboration with Supervisor and Trainee. It provides complete integration of the training and registration processes. This system is used by postgraduate residents during residency. The e-logbook entries are reviewed by the supervisors and made available to examiners during examinations.

The e-logbook also allows for quick and easy data entry, allowing for greater efficiency in the supervision process. The electronic logbook is an excellent tool for assessing the performance of a resident. It also allows for easy management of case notes and other documents. As a result, CPSP has been able to improve its IT facilities.

HOS247 has developed an electronic logbook that is user-friendly and easy to install. Its software and hardware are compatible with iOS and Android devices, allowing drivers to manage their logs on the road without human error. It is also FMCSA-certified and DOT-compliant.

It offers subspecialty fellowship training

CPSP is a college of physicians and surgeons in Pakistan that offers subspecialty fellowship training. This program offers medical graduates the chance to specialize in specific areas of radiology. Currently, the program requires MD and MCPS degrees, and it is still in its early stages. The CPSP website has details about application procedures and requirements.

To apply, candidates must meet general requirements and specific requirements for each specialty. In addition to these criteria, successful candidates must have a current supervisor’s consent. They must also have a permanent registration with the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council or the Irish Medical Council. The CPSP also has clinical placements approved by the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, which provides a high standard of clinical development and supportive pastoral care.

Choosing a subspecialty may be a tough choice. Many trainees base their choice on hospital experience with the subspecialty or an exciting role model in the field. While the former may provide insight, it’s vital to gain ambulatory experience with the subspecialty before making the final decision. This will help them see the subspecialty from a variety of perspectives.

In addition to training in the subspecialty, the CPSP requires trainees to write a prospective study and complete two publications in peer-reviewed journals. They also have the opportunity to attend scholarly conferences and attend courses. In addition to this, the CPSP also requires candidates to complete an examination to become a fellow. These requirements must be met before the fellow can apply for professional registration as a specialist.
