April is a month filled with awareness. It is National Health Month and World Health Day. It is also International Peace Day, and Military Appreciation Month. So, whatever you are doing this month, take note of these special occasions and celebrate them with loved ones. And if you’re feeling a little down, remember to give to a cause that makes you feel good!
May is Military Appreciation Month
May is Military Appreciation Month, and if you know a service member or veteran, take time to acknowledge their service. You can send a card or note to let them know how much you appreciate them. It may seem like a small gesture, but it goes a long way. Many companies offer discounts to veterans and service members.
Military Appreciation Month was first recognized in 1999 when the United States Congress passed S.Res 33, which was sponsored by Senator John McCain of Arizona and Representative Duncan Hunter of San Diego and was supported by more than 50 veteran service organizations. In the following year, H. Con. Res. 328 passed by unanimous consent in both Houses of Congress and officially declared May as Military Appreciation Month. The bill also calls on the President to issue a proclamation recognizing the contributions of service members and veterans.
During May, many companies offer special deals to military personnel and veterans. Remember to show your appreciation by flying the American Flag proudly at your home. And remember that your actions speak louder than words, so don’t forget to check the proper etiquette when you’re flying the flag.
If you have a friend or family member who is currently serving in the military, a phone call is a great way to show your support. You can even arrange to give them a phone call on their birthday to say “thanks for your service” in person. This is also a great time to honor military spouses.
May is National Arab American Heritage Month
May is National Arab American Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the contributions and rich culture of Arab Americans. According to the Arab American Institute, an estimated 3.7 million Americans have Middle Eastern or North African heritage. These Americans are a diverse group, with roots in more than 20 countries across northern Africa and western Asia. As a result, there are countless ways to celebrate Arab heritage in the United States.
To commemorate the month, many individuals and institutions have organized events and activities to celebrate Arab culture. A bill to recognize Arab Americans as a distinct cultural group in the United States was introduced by Democratic Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Debbie Dingell, but it has not yet been voted upon. Similar legislation has been proposed in Maryland, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Indiana.
While the Arab American Heritage Month is not officially observed by the federal government, some cities and states have recognized it with official resolutions and proclamations. The Arab America Foundation, which promotes Arab heritage, has obtained 46 proclamations from twenty states. Other organizations, such as the Arab Community Center for Integration Services (ACCIS), encourage people to learn about Arab history and culture, and provide transitional assistance for new Arab immigrants.
The Arab American community has contributed tremendously to American culture. Its contributions range from art and music to sports and culture. The Arab American National Museum highlights the contributions of artists from this diverse community. You can even take a virtual tour of the museum to get a better understanding of the history and culture of Arab Americans in America.
May is World Health Day
World Health Day is a day to promote health awareness. Taking multivitamins and eating healthier are two great ways to do this. Whether you’re a health-conscious individual or have a larger family, everyone can do their part to improve global health. And while it’s never too late to get involved, there are several ways you can celebrate the day in your own home.
The World Health Organization was formed in 1948 and is an intergovernmental organization of 194 member countries. Its founding principles call for the organization to work towards the elimination of diseases and promote health around the world. The organization has a staff of over 7,000 and over 150 country offices. Despite the name, World Health Day isn’t a public holiday, but rather an opportunity for all countries to bring their attention to the importance of health.
World Health Day focuses on a different theme every year. This enables the organisation to focus on a particular issue. Past themes have included Global Polio Eradication, the importance of keeping active as we age, and road safety. This year’s themes focus on tackling global health issues.
One of the most important themes of the World Health Day campaign is the protection of health from the effects of climate change. The campaign calls on health organizations to implement emergency response systems and improve public health infrastructure. One way to do this is to make health facilities safer and more accessible. Clean-up campaigns are also another way to promote health. A campaign has been launched to collect 1,000 stories of urban health champions.
World Health Day is a global event, with a theme that coincides with WHO priorities. This year’s theme is improving the health of the world’s population. The message of World Health Organization is that better health leads to a fuller life. Healthy people are more productive and are able to contribute more to society.
May is International Peace Day
International Day of Peace is the United Nations’ day to promote world peace. Countries observe the day by declaring an official cease-fire. World leaders also put aside their differences and join together to honor the day. The day is marked with the ringing of the Peace Bell at the UN’s headquarters in New York City. The bell was crafted using coins donated by children of most continents. Its inscription reads, “Long live absolute world peace.”
Students at Mount Madonna School recently marked the occasion by holding their school’s first peace day commemoration. The day began with an acknowledgement of the land’s traditional owners and people. They also held a prayer ceremony led by Rabbi Paula Marcus. Afterward, the Head of School Anne Goewert unveiled the school’s first peace pole, which is expected to be dedicated annually.
Taking note of “International Peace Day,” the Catholic Church wishes to launch a worldwide effort to promote peace. The Church hopes to achieve a broad and unanimous agreement among the civilized world. It hopes to achieve this by setting aside the first day of each new year as the “Day of Peace.” The Church believes that by setting aside a single day for world peace, this initiative will impress upon the world’s conscious citizens a sincere, strong character. Moreover, it will lead to a more orderly development of society.
Many cities and communities have celebrated this day by organizing peace education programs, interfaith dialogues, planting peace poles, and other peace activities. Many people also participate in peace-related events such as marches, public programs with government officials, and public concerts.
May is Easter
The calendar for Easter in the United States and Canada is based on the date of the first Sunday in the month of April. For the year 2022, Easter will fall on the 17th of April. In Scotland, Easter will be observed on Monday, April 23. In the Julian Calendar, Easter falls on the 25th of April.
Easter Sunday is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox. However, the exact date of Easter varies with each calendar. In some years, Easter falls on March 21 or later, depending on the time of the year. In other years, Easter occurs in late April, when it is warm enough.
Easter is a major holiday in the Christian calendar. It represents the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. However, the actual date of Easter varies from year to year, due to lunar phases. The full moon for Easter occurs after March 21, as it approaches the March equinox. Therefore, Easter is a month for celebration.
Easter Day is the first Sunday after the Paschal Full Moon. It is a movable feast, and can fall on either March 22 or April 25. In the year 2022, Easter will be on Sunday, April 17, which will be later than last year. In April, the date of Easter is determined by the vernal equinox.
Although Easter is a holiday in the Julian calendar, it is also celebrated in the Gregorian calendar. Easter is observed on the first Sunday after the first full moon in March. However, the dates are not always the same, and so it is important to check the calendar to ensure Easter is on the correct day.
