The Karachi Kings are a professional Twenty20 cricket team in Pakistan. They compete in the Pakistan Super League. They are based in the city of Karachi in Sindh province. The Karachi Kings were formed in 2015 after the Pakistan Cricket Board decided to expand its domestic league. They are currently one of the most successful teams in the league.
Ravi Bopara
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) started in great form for Ravi Bopara. He was named the most valuable player of the tournament in his debut season. His knock of 71 and 6/16 against Lahore Qalandars were instrumental in the team’s only win. Ravi’s form continued when he played for Karachi Kings in the PSL, winning the man of the tournament award.
Bopara is a talented stroke-player who is able to open the innings and bat in the middle order. He has represented England at several points and was a regular in their set-up for several years. Although he was not an indispensable player for the English team, his early promise signaled a successful career in the top division. He started out as a top-order batsman but later developed a potent medium pace bowling game. In 2003, he made his Test debut.
Bopara had a brief stay in Karachi before he left for Dubai. He was able to take part in the Karachi Kings’ launching ceremony. Despite the short stay, he expressed his love for the city in Punjabi. Ravi Bopara, Karachi Kings, and Pakistan Super League are among the most highly-rated franchises in T20 cricket.
Bopara, who last played for England in March 2015, tweeted about the upcoming match between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi. The match is scheduled to be held in Sooriyawewa Stadium in December. Despite Malinga’s withdrawal, Ravi Bopara, Karachi Kings, and Peshawar Zalmi will continue in the PSL.
Ravi Bopara has had an interesting tour of the ODI circuit. Despite the poor start in the first two matches against New Zealand, Bopara still managed to contribute with both the bat and the ball. In the second match, he made 52 runs and took one wicket. England won the series by 20 runs and Bopara was not selected to bat in the final match.
Faisal Iqbal
Faisal Iqbal is a former cricketer from Pakistan, who played for the national team as a right-handed middle order batsman. Faisal is best known for not playing many test matches for Pakistan. He has since been a coach in the Pakistan Premier League. Iqbal is the nephew of Javed Miandad, the famous Pakistani cricketer.
Faisal made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe on 19th February 2000, but never played to his full potential. He scored his first century in ODI cricket against Zimbabwe in 2002 but continued to perform poorly and was dropped from the national team. He finally made a comeback in the 2006 home series against the West Indies, where he made 30 runs. He played his last ODI match on 13th December 2006.
After being dropped from the Pakistan national team, Faisal Iqbal continued to perform at the domestic level. He was eventually called up to play against India in 2005-06 as a replacement for an injured Inzamam-ul-Haq. His batting was impressive, and he scored his maiden hundred.
Karachi Kings have added Shahid Afridi to their squad. Afridi previously played for Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL. In the 2018 PSL, the team finished third but did not qualify for the final. In the playoffs, the team played one game with Muhammad Amir, who replaced Imad Wasim for the final match. Karachi Kings were 3/6 in the tournament, which is not bad considering the players who had to play for their national team.
The Karachi Kings will play Multan Sultan in the first match on January 29th, 2022. The team will also play the Quetta Gladiators on January 30th, 2022.
Multan Sultans
In the twenty-third match of the Pakistan Super League 2022, the Multan Sultans will play demoralized Karachi Kings. The Sultans are the defending champions and won the PSL title last season. The team has won six consecutive matches, including a win against Peshawar Zalmi in Lahore. They are ranked first in the points table with 12 points, and will look to maintain their momentum in the final games before play-offs.
Multan Sultans have a 3-2 head-to-head record against Karachi Kings, but the Sultans have won the last two meetings between the teams. In the last match, Multan Sultans chased down the Kings’ 124/5 in 18.2 overs to win by seven wickets. Imran Tahir claimed the player of the match award for his three-for-fours in the last over.
Despite the loss against Lahore Qalandars, the Sultans of Oman are still top of the table, with two matches to go. With the victory, the Sultans have now won five out of seven matches, which is a record for the team. Meanwhile, the Karachi Kings are yet to win a match this season and are already out of the playoff race.
Islamabad United
The PSL 2022 will see Islamabad United take on the Karachi Kings. While Islamabad United has three wins from six games, the Kings are still searching for their first win. The match will be telecast live on Sony Six at 8 PM IST. Both teams will be aiming to win, and the pitch at the Gaddafi Stadium is excellent for batting. The pitch is expected to be wet due to dew, but the game should be a good one for both sides.
Islamabad United are the reigning champions of the PSL and have won their last two matches. In their last four games, Islamabad United have lost two, drawn one, and won one. In the PSL 2022, they are in third place. They have won two rubbers out of four, while the Karachi Kings have lost all four.
Islamabad United’s bowling attack has been inconsistent so far, but their batting line-up is a strength. Alex Hales has been a standout in the top-order, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz will assist him. In the middle order, Azam Khan and Asif Ali will handle the workload. In bowling, Shadab Khan has taken 17 wickets. Mohammad Wasim Jr and Hasan Ali are also in the team.
Shadab Khan and Alex Hales are the best bowlers in the tournament, but the Kings’ bowlers have been able to break the partnerships in the middle. Alex Hales scored 62 runs and Faheem Ashraf scored 55 runs. In the end, United will have to rely on their batting line-up to score at least a point in the game.
