After the match, Rizwan’s knock exemplified the importance of consistency. The top score for Pakistan was 88 and Rizwan made it look easy with a brilliant fifty-plus. The rest of the Pakistan side struggled to make a total against the English.
Moeen Ali played a supporting role in Pakistan’s innings, but he remained the second best batsman in the middle order. While his knock of 68 from the ninth over didn’t translate into a century, the batting order got a boost from the opening pair.
Shan Masood
Pakistan’s cricket team are expected to experiment with their batting order in the T20 World Cup, where they will face England in the first game on 20 September. Shan Masood and Moeen Khan are two players who have been a part of the Pakistan cricket team since the start of the T20 tournament. After the 2009 Sri Lanka team bus attack, international cricket has slowly returned to Pakistan. England had originally scheduled to arrive in October last year, but New Zealand pulled out due to safety concerns.
In the first T20I, Pakistan scored 158, which was not enough to put England in trouble. The team’s middle order struggled to score, and had to attack in order to stay ahead. The partnership between Rizwan and Babar Ali was almost flawless. During their partnership, Alex Hales dropped a catch. Rizwan finished with 88 and Babar scored 110.
