The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association is an organization dedicated to the Pakistani textile industry. It represents more than 400 mills in the country. Its role is to support and complement the overall activities of the industry. Its main activities are outlined below. APTMA is made up of several regional offices and an annual general meeting.
APTMA’s role to supplement and complement overall industry activities
The APTMA plays a crucial role in protecting the interests of its members. It also works in close cooperation with other national textile trade associations to address issues that affect the yarn and cloth segments of the industry. These issues include cotton legislation, income and sales tax laws, customs regulations, and government statistical programs.
Its regional offices
The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) is a trade association that represents the interests of textile mills and the industry in Pakistan. The Association was established in 1990 and registered under the Trade Organizations Ordinance 1961 and the Companies Ordinance 1984. Its headquarters are in Faisalabad. It is a member of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry. Its members have 11 committees to discuss a variety of issues.
The APTMA is the premier trade association in Pakistan. It represents more than 400 textile mills ranging from spinning to weaving. The Association works with mills to promote the trade of cotton and other textile products. It also collects and classifies statistics related to trade and manufacturing.
The inauguration of the regional offices was attended by the Dutch Ambassador to Pakistan and the State Minister of Textiles and Commerce of Pakistan. The IAF and the PRGMEA will work together to provide training and knowledge for textile mills and apparel manufacturers in Pakistan. The association’s regional offices in the Punjab will focus on capacity building and compliance services.
The textile industry is a huge contributor to the economy in Pakistan. It generates 60% of the country’s exports. However, it faces a number of challenges, including upgrading the supply chain and maximizing value-added production. The Textile Industry Division develops strategies and programmes that help the industry meet these challenges and achieve global competitiveness.
The AITEX ministry aims to transfer knowledge and technical know-how to textile manufacturers to help them compete in the international marketplace. It also works to improve industrial progress and promote modernisation. AITEX also supplies manufacturers with appropriate product certifications so they can gain a foothold in the international market.
Its annual general meeting
APTMA’s annual general meeting saw the election of new office bearers. New Chairman Abdul Rahim Nasir and Senior Vice Chairman Muhammad Jameel Qasim were elected. New Vice Chairman Atta Shafi Tanveer Sheikh was also elected. Abdul Rahim Nasir thanked the previous officers and the new board for the successful elections.
The new APTMA leadership team was congratulated by Patron-in-Chief Gohar Ejaz. He said he hoped that the new team would work to bring the industry back to life and ensure export-led growth. He also hoped that this new management team would work to make the industry stronger and more competitive.
In his address, Mr. Asif Inam, newly elected Central Chairman of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association, pledged to work for the economic stabilisation of the country. He promised to work towards restoring the textile industry to its former glory. He was accompanied by newly elected office bearers and members of the Central Executive Committee.
The APTMA’s 66th annual general meeting saw the election of new officers. Asif Inam, the newly elected central chairman of the association, was elected to lead the association’s board. Other newly elected officers were Rehman Naseem, Naveed Ahmed and Asad Shafiq. Asad Shafiq was elected as vice chairman of the North Zone.
The Executive Committee also comprises the President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The officers are elected at the annual general meeting and serve until the next annual general meeting. In case of an equality in nominations, the Vice-President has the casting vote. These officers have the power to appoint a new Auditor.

The Association is active in promoting fashion, creating awareness and promoting the industry. The association is also a conduit for the promotion of Pakistani designers.
