The Arifwala Tehsil is located in Pakpattan District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It is the 88th largest city in Pakistan and is home to approximately 80,000 people. This city is the headquarters of the Arifwala Tehsil.

The town of Arifwala is the administrative center of the Tehsil. The town is subdivided into 34 wards. The town was founded in 1927. The town was inaugurated by Mrs F B Wace, the Registrar of Cooperative Societies in Punjab. In 1933, the Governor of Punjab inaugurated the Town Hall. The population of the town is about 720,000.

Pakpattan District is the provincial capital of Pakistan. It is situated around 205 kilometers from Lahore and 207 km from Multan. It is situated northwest of Sahiwal and north of Okara. It is on the banks of Sutlej River and a few km southwest of Vehari District.

Pakpattan District has a rich history. The Indus Valley Civilization originated in this area and was later invaded by the Indo-Aryan culture. In the second century BCE, Alexander the Great invaded the Punjab region with 50,000 troops. Later, the district was ruled by the Maurya Empire, the Indo-Greek kingdom, the White Huns, and the Kushan Empire.

The city of Pakpattan is named after a great saint, Baba Farid of Chisti. The name Pakpattan is a combination of two words: Pak and pattan, meaning “clean dockland”. The name was given to the city after the Saint washed himself in a river near Multan.

The town is home to numerous shrines. The main shrine, which honors the late Saint Farid, attracts thousands of followers. The shrine is renowned throughout the subcontinent and is the site of an annual Urs celebration, during which hundreds of thousands of pilgrims pay homage to the saint.

Historically, the city of Multan played a crucial role in Pakistan’s defense. It was also the main ferry across the Sutlej River and a major meeting place of western roads, leading to the Delhi Empire and Multan State.

A large train station was built in the town. It connected the surrounding areas to distant irrigating areas, such as Bahawalpur and Mailsi. It also connected with the state of Khanewal.

The climate in Arifwala is hot and dry. The summer season begins in April and lasts until October. The hottest months are June, July, and August. The mean temperature is forty-five degrees Celsius in the summer, and thirty-two degrees in the winter. The education system in Arifwala is generally satisfactory. The Government Girls High School is one of the largest schools in the Pakpattan district, and the area also has three boys’ high schools. There are also two colleges, one for boys and one for girls. The Educators (New Muhammadan Campus) is another school in Arifwala, known for its quality education.

The local economy is primarily dependent on agriculture. Cotton and grain are two of the main crops grown here. The Arifwala grain market is one of the largest in the country. Arifwala also produces different kinds of vegetables and exports them throughout the country. In addition, it has a number of industries, including rice mills and flour mills. The area also boasts several seed and fertilizer companies.
