Calpol is used to reduce a high temperatureIt can cause blood disordersNot recommended for children under 6 years old

If your child has a high temperature, Calpol syrup can help reduce it. But you should know that there are also some risks, associated with it. It can cause skin rashes and blood disorders. Furthermore, it should not be given to children younger than 6 years old. So how do you use it safely?

Calpol is used to reduce a high temperature

Calpol syrup is a common medicine, used to treat high fever in children. The active ingredient is sorbitol, which is a sugar-like substance. It contains 0.45 grams of sorbitol per five ml. It also contains sodium and propylene glycol. Syrup is, also used to treat aches and pains and post-infection fever.

It can cause blood disorders

It’s important to be aware of the risks associated with taking Calpol syrup. It is dangerous to take the medicine if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding because the medication can impair the development of the fetus. It may also cause problems for the baby’s heart and kidneys. Women who are undergoing infertility treatment or trying to conceive should also be wary of taking the medication. The medication can also pass into the breast milk in low concentrations. For this reason, women should inform their doctor if they are breastfeeding.

Some of the side effects associated with Calpol syrup include: blood disorders, heart problems, and gastrointestinal upset. Even the compounding powder contains acetaminophen. Children under the age of twelve should not take the medicine, and adults should not give it to children under 40 pounds.

Not recommended for children under 6 years old

If your child is under six years old, you should not give them any cough and cold preparations, such as Calpol syrup. Also, do not give your child aspirin or ibuprofen. These medications are, not recommended for children because they pose a choking hazard. Also, they are more likely to experience adverse drug reactions.

Calpol was first introduced in Crewe, England in 1959. The brand name is a contraction of paracetamol and Calmic, which is the active ingredient. Previous versions of paracetamol were bitter, so Calpol was the first to suspend the drug in a syrup that tasted nice. In 1966, the pharmaceutical company Wellcome bought the company and began marketing the product as a safer and non-irritating alternative to aspirin.

However, liquid paracetamol is, recommended for babies after they’ve had their first round of vaccinations. By six months, 84% of babies will have consumed some Calpol, which is the reason why the syringe is so familiar to babies. It becomes a ritual for babies and they anticipate it.

The association between Calpol and asthma has caused controversy. The Daily Mail reported a study in Spain, which didn’t prove that the drug was responsible for increasing the rate of asthma. The study involved 20,000 Spanish children, which is unlikely to be representative of the UK population.

Calpol is a highly popular remedy for children. It’s used in many homes and is available without a prescription. It was first introduced as an antihistamine for babies. In 1983, it became the most popular children’s pain-relief medicine. It has nearly 50 times the market share of paracetamol, the second most popular children’s pain reliever.
