ICAP is the professional self-regulatory body of the Chartered Accountant profession in Pakistan. It has more than 8,000 members throughout the country. The Institute regulates the practice of accountancy in Pakistan and awards its members with gold medals. It is a member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

ICAP is a professional self-regulatory body

Established in 1961, ICAP is the premier regulatory body for Chartered Accountants in Pakistan. It has approximately 7,000 members and is a member of Chartered Accountants Worldwide, a global association of leading accounting institutes. Admitted members of ICAP are held to high standards, ensuring that they provide the highest level of service to their clients.

ICAP has international representation through its membership of IFAC, Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants, and the South Asian Federation of Accountants. It has also signed Memorandums of Understanding with CPA Canada, ICAEW, and CAANZ.

ICAP has also collaborated with a leading university in Pakistan to promote accounting and finance research. This initiative has led to the establishment of the ICAP-IBA Research Unit, which aims to promote and develop research in Pakistan. To foster research, ICAP invites research proposals. Three selected proposals will receive grant agreements.

As a professional body, ICAP provides resources to its members that will guide them in technical matters. In addition, as a self-regulatory body, ICAP has a crucial role in safeguarding the interests of the broader society. It also promotes good corporate governance and effective monitoring of various corporate players. It also stresses continuous improvement. It regulates Chartered Accountants in Pakistan

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Pakistan was established in 1961 after the government established a department of accountancy. This department was headed by the Controller of Accountancy. The advisory body recommended establishing the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Pakistan, and the Chartered Accountants Ordinance was promulgated in 1961.

It awards a gold medal to a CPA

Badami is a CPA who has more than 15 years of experience in diversified fields, including financial accounting and management. He has also held positions on various technocratic governmental bodies.

It is a member of IFAC

IFAC is an organization for accountants from around the world. ICAP is a member of IFAC and its Professional Accountants in Business Committee (PABC) has developed a high-quality transformational training program. This program, called Finance Leader 2.0, will be held in Lahore in September. During the program, participants will receive an international personality assessment and will be given the opportunity to participate in one-on-one coaching sessions.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Pakistan (ICAP) has been a strong advocate of its brand, and has worked to strengthen its image internationally. Its recent appointments have included the appointment of M. Ali Latif to the IFAC Board’s Small and Medium Practices Advisory Group. Latif is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (FCA) and a Partner in Muniff Ziauddin & Co. Chartered Accountants in Lahore.

ICAP is not in full compliance with the standards developed by IFAC, but it has adopted the International Standards on Auditing as its own national standards. It has an active membership of 8,889, with 2,252 (25%) of its members living abroad. The Institute also has a total of 5,141 Associate members. Its membership has increased by 0.60% from a year ago.

It is a member of CAW

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Singapore (ICAP) joined Chartered Accountants Worldwide in June 2015 as an Associate Member. The new affiliation strengthens the profession’s international presence and provides members with valuable networking opportunities. ICAP also supports international accounting standards and has ties to the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants, the South Asian Federation of Accountants, and the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAP) is a professional body which fosters research and education. The Institute has admitted Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW) as a member of CAW, making it the second international professional body to join since its founding. CAW sponsors young Chartered Accountants in the age range of 18 to 35 and seeks to attract the best and the brightest to the designation.

CAW brings together fourteen leading institutes of Chartered Accountants worldwide. With over 750,000 members in 190 countries, CAW is dedicated to maintaining the highest professional standards in accounting. It also seeks to promote the role of Chartered Accountants as trusted business leaders, decision makers, and advisers. The organisation has been involved in advancing the accounting profession and setting global standards since its inception.

ICAP has over 9,000 members around the world. Each member plays an important role in maintaining its high quality image. Its members are based in more than 50 countries, including most major economies in the world. A quarter of its membership is overseas, which is very significant. Its members are engaged in professional development activities, and promote the CA Pakistan brand at international forums.
