Naltar valley, located about 34 kilometres from Gilgit, is a forested area that is known for its spectacular mountain scenery. It features three lakes – Strangi Lake, Blue Lake, and Bodlok Lake. The valley is also home to the famous Naltar ski resort.

Naltar valley is an all-weather destination

Naltar Valley is located in the north-western part of Gilgit Baltistan, surrounded by majestic mountains. It is just a two-hour drive from Gilgit and is best reached by a four-wheel-drive jeep. With its enchanting scenery, lush forest, and natural wildlife, this valley is an ideal destination in any season.

There are a number of hotels in the Naltar valley, including the Naltar Palace Hotel and Mehmaan Resort. There are also plenty of quaint guesthouses and restaurants that make the area an ideal place to stay.

It has three lakes

Species found here include: Alpine ibex, beech marten, leopard cat, brown bear, and red fox. There are also several species of lizards and snakes.

Nearby are the Baltoro glacier and the Concordia Glacier. The main Baltoro glacier originates in the Concordia glacier and splits into two branches at the Baltoro Kangri peaks. This glacier is home to several high peaks, including Gasherbrum I and II. The fourth peak, Gasherbrum IV, is a much harder peak than its higher neighbors. Climbing the West face of Gasherbrum IV is a milestone for alpinists.

It is an all-weather destination

Naltar valley is full of adventure, even in winter. Its majestic beauty is awe-inspiring and makes it an excellent travel destination. But, be sure to take precautions while traveling in winter. The road is narrow and the snow can make it difficult to get through.

The valley is rich in natural beauty and contains several lakes. You can enjoy skiing in winter and hiking in summer in this area. The valley also has a wildlife sanctuary where you can see rescued snow leopards. While you’re in the valley, you can also visit the Halimi Garden, which is located just a short drive away.

In the summer, the lakes are the main attraction. You can reach them by trekking or 4×4 vehicles. The road is not easily accessible during winters, and you’ll need to be skilled at driving in order to reach them. The lakes are located within about 10 miles of each other, but the road can be treacherous.

Alternatively, you can hire a car and drive to the valley. However, the road to the valley is rough and bumpy. Public transport to Naltar is available from Gilgit City on fixed hours, but you’ll need to pay a few hundred rupees to get around.
