Prospan is a traditional herbal medicine based on climbing ivy

The active ingredients of Prospan are ivy leaf extracts. They act as antispasmodics and make coughing easier. They also have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects. These properties make Prospan useful for acute and chronic inflammation of the respiratory tract, such as bronchitis and emphysema. The medicine is available as an effervescent tablet or a syrup.

Ivy leaves are, commonly used in folk medicine for rheumatic complaints. Its pounded leaves are, also used as a soothing ointment for burn wounds and other conditions.
