Educational background
The Lower Mekong Initiative (LMI) COMET project aims to provide youth with market-driven skills through innovative teaching and learning practices. It works to connect key stakeholders from business and education to improve student outcomes and prepare them for successful futures. It also supports the adoption of new technologies in education and workplaces.
The filming of ‘When I Grow Up’ coincides with the 60th anniversary of the MIM. It offers an intimate look into the lives of six Southeast Asian children, while raising awareness of the importance of education. It was directed by Jill Coulon and features music composed by Yael Naim and David Donatien. The film is produced by Aloest.
The Mekong Learning Initiative, facilitated by the University of Sydney, uses innovative teaching methods to address themes common to the Mekong region. It emphasizes inquiry-based learning, which differs from traditional study tours. Inquiry-based learning involves students actively identifying the issues they wish to learn about, as opposed to being directed by an instructor. Peer groups work together with instructors to create and refine learning materials and teaching methods.
Presentations on health care topics
While the United States leads the world in health care spending, it lags behind peer countries on most health care quality and cost measures. Moreover, many Americans lack access to health insurance and face cost-related barriers to care. In addition, employer-sponsored health insurance is less common than in the past, and benefits have been cut or deductibles increased to cover rising costs. Meanwhile, the United States spends significantly more on health care administration than peer countries, which diverts attention away from patient care.
