The city is home to two important religious monuments: the great Khanqa prayer hall and Chaqchan Mosque. The former was built in 1712 by the saint Sayyed Mohammad from the Nurbkahshiya sect. Nearby is the Astana grave monument, which was restored by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture Pakistan. The Chaqchan Mosque is the largest traditional mosque in Baltistan. It was founded in the 14th century by Sayyed Ali Shah Hamadani. It is not a secured mosque like the Amburiq Mosque.

The valley surrounding Khaplu has several peaks and glaciers, and it is considered the starting point for many trekking and climbing expeditions. This area is also home to the Chaqchan Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in Baltistan and the oldest mosque in Pakistan. The city is located next to an ancient trade route to Ladakh, so the landscapes are stunning.

Another popular trail in the area is the Great Karakoram Traverse. This route crosses an incredible range of terrain and passes through lush valleys, arid high plateaus, and beautiful landscapes. The trek also takes you through the magnificent Baltoro Glacier and the Muztagh Glacier.

Located at an altitude of 2314 meters, the town is home to the Hushe Valley, one of the highest mountains in Pakistan. The valley is home to numerous trekkers, mountaineers, climbers, and campers. The area has numerous hotels and accommodations. Thousands of people trek to the area each year.

The city is also home to the famous Manthal Buddha Rock, which is a large granite boulder depicting Buddha and Bodhistavas. Visitors can enter the site for a modest 150 rupees. However, it’s best to visit during the morning hours. In the afternoon, the temperature can get too warm for comfort.

It is a base for expeditions to Siachen Glacier

The Siachen Glacier is a great Himalayan watershed that separates the Indian sub-continent from central Asia. This glacier is the most dangerous in the world and is a popular destination for mountaineers. Khaplu City Pakistan is a base for many expeditions to the glacier. Many expeditions start in Khaplu and include several days of hiking to the glacier.

There are several trekking trails in the area. The first of these takes you through the Hushe Valley, which leads to the K-6 and K-7 mountains. Another popular trek from Khaplu leads to Sherpa Kangh, which is a small mountain near Khaplu.

Currently, the glacier is under Pakistani control. It is 72 km long and has several peaks and side valleys. The head of the glacier is situated near the Indira Col, the border between India and Central Asia. A river called the Shyok river flows into the glacier and then joins the Nubra River. The glacier is a strategic location for the two nations and protects the borders from both sides.

The first expedition to Siachen was in 1978. The first helicopter sortie took off from Leh on September 20 and dropped fresh rations at the base camps. A day later, the 114 Helicopter Unit was dispatched from Leh to evacuate a casualty from an advance base camp. The helicopter landed at Kumar, and the jawan and officer were safely evacuated.

Visitors can also visit the historic Chaqchan Mosque, which was built by Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani in 1370. Originally a Buddhist temple, it later became a mosque after the region’s people converted to Islam. It is now listed on the National Heritage List of Pakistan.

The area is characterized by stunning natural scenery, including a rippling river of ice. The area is home to five of the world’s fourteen highest peaks and more than sixty over 7000 meters. The landscape is filled with valleys and high mountains, which make it a prime location for glaciers.

This area is a paradise for mountaineers and tourists. Thousands of people visit the area every year to explore the mountains.
